Cadence Home · 30-day Implementation Guide
The first month, day by day. No fluff.
Most digital products promise a "30-day guide". This one earns it: a week of audit, a week of rebalance, a week of standards, a week of cadence. By the end of month one the household is running differently.
Total time: about 4-5 hours over the month, mostly in 20-30 minute slots. Open this on a phone or a fridge tablet; tick off as you go.
Week 1 — Audit
Audit
See clearly. No changes yet.
Day 1
Take the diagnostic.
Both of you, separately if possible. Compare the scores. Note the three weakest spots — they will be the spine of the next four weeks.
Open the tool →Day 2
Sit down with the Mental Load Map.
Together, 30 minutes, no phones. Work through the 25 tasks. The bar chart at the top is the conversation.
Open the tool →Day 3-4
Each of you take the Who-Owns-What Matrix separately.
On your own devices. Pick yourselves as the filler. Don’t discuss while filling. Compare in the evening of day 4.
Open the tool →Day 5-7
Run a first Sunday Reset.
20 minutes. The Reset is the cadence that holds everything else together. Don’t skip it.
Open the tool →Week 2 — Rebalance
Rebalance
Move two tasks. Capture what breaks.
Day 8
Pick one task to rebalance.
From the Mental Load Map: one task where the cognitive load is one-sided. Decide together how to redistribute it. Not all of them — one.
Day 9-11
Run the new arrangement.
The redistributed task happens for the first time this week. Capture what was awkward in the Friction Log.
Open the tool →Day 12
Add one more redistribution.
A second task. Same pattern: agree, run it, log the friction.
Day 13-14
Second Sunday Reset.
Compare to last week. What dropped, what didn’t. One change for next week.
Open the tool →Week 3 — Standards
Standards
Write the two highest-frequency SOPs.
Day 15
Write the Standardised Morning.
The morning as it actually runs this week. Pin it up. Run it once exactly as written.
Open the tool →Day 16-19
Run the morning. Iterate.
Update the SOP on Friday based on what wasn’t accurate. SOPs get to V3 fast.
Day 20
Write the Sick Day SOP.
Even if no one is sick, write it. It’s a sit-down conversation that takes 25 minutes.
Open the tool →Day 21
Third Sunday Reset + first Weekly Brief.
Reset as usual. The Weekly Brief comes out of the Reset — one page, pin it up.
Open the tool →Week 4 — Cadence
Cadence
Install the recurring rituals. Brief everyone.
Day 22-23
Build the Handover Brief (partner version).
A one-pager either of you could open if you’re away.
Open the tool →Day 24-25
Build the Kid-care Brief.
For grandparents, sitters, friends. Same form, different framing. Pin it on the fridge for the next person who babysits.
Open the tool →Day 26-27
First Monthly Money Meeting.
Saturday morning, 20 minutes. Bank app + diary. No spreadsheet.
Open the tool →Day 28-30
Final week — what’s working, what isn’t.
Last Sunday Reset of the month: name the two artefacts that have already become non-negotiable; name the two that haven’t landed. Decide why.
After 30 days
